Picture an 8-year-old girl walking into a stranger's home beside her mother. Her mother speaks limited English, so the little girl does all the talking. She negotiates rates. She explains services. She translates requests from clients who have no idea they're doing business with a child. This was not a summer project or a school assignment. This was Carol Bolivar's childhood.

Born in Colombia and raised in New Jersey, Carol grew up watching her mother clean homes across the state with quiet pride and relentless determination. While her mother scrubbed and polished, Carol became the bridge between two languages and two cultures, learning lessons no classroom could teach: how to earn trust, how to read a room, and how to make someone feel seen.

By 15, she had landed what she calls her “first real job” — selling newspapers door-to-door. Every doorbell rang with a new possibility. Some doors opened warmly. Others didn't open at all. But every single one taught Carol the same thing: persistence wins. People respond to authenticity. And showing up matters more than anything else.

That foundation carried her into a serious corporate career. Carol managed teams of 10 to 25 operators on high-volume manufacturing floors, overseeing inventory control, quality control, staffing, and daily operations. She then spent five years as Marketing Coordinator at a staffing firm, where she recruited talent, coordinated job fairs, and became a trusted brand ambassador in community events across New Jersey.

Then came the moment every entrepreneur knows: the leap. Today, Carol runs Beyond Clean Team across Union, Middlesex, and Somerset Counties. She was selected for the NJSBDC AI Business Academy's first cohort, proving that the same girl who once translated for her mother is still learning, still growing, and still refusing to stop.
