Step-by-Step Instructions
Check Cleaning Code
Look for the cleaning code tag under the cushion. W = water-safe, S = solvent only, WS = both, X = vacuum only. This determines everything about your treatment approach.
Blot Excess Coffee
Blot with white cloths from the outside edge inward. For cushions with removable covers, remove the cover and blot both sides.
Apply Cleaning Solution (W or WS Code)
Mix 1 tablespoon Dawn dish soap, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, and 2 cups cool water. Apply with a white cloth, dabbing gently. For S-code fabrics, use rubbing alcohol or dry cleaning solvent instead.
Rinse and Blot
Dampen a clean cloth with plain water and blot to rinse out soap residue. Then blot with a dry towel. Use minimal water — upholstery foam inside can mildew if oversaturated.
Speed-Dry and Brush
Point a fan at the cleaned area to speed drying and prevent watermarks. Once dry, brush the fabric with a soft bristle brush to restore the nap and texture.
